Round-Shaft Helical Pile Manufacturer

Tubular leads, matched extensions and specified pile-top connections

Round-shaft pile orders identify the tube outside diameter and wall separately. We fabricate leads with formed bearing plates, then match the plain extensions, couplings and pile tops to that shaft drawing. The complete helix sequence and connection detail stay with each pile mark, separate from the foundation capacity.

Published round-shaft and plate reference dimensions

The round-pipe catalog identifies a 2-7/8 in. shaft with a 0.217 in. wall, plus two helix-plate thickness selections. Keep the shaft and plate dimensions on separate component lines.

Reference dimensions from the first-party round-pipe pile catalog, converted at 25.4 mm/in. The released pile drawing defines the accepted material, tolerances and plate arrangement. Torque resistance, installed capacity and evaluated-system approval are separate requirements.

Shaft material and the foundation design basis

Material entries for the actual parts

The tube, helix plates, coupling sleeve and top assembly retain separate material specifications. The formed plate and joint bolts carry their own grade entries.

Load rating comes from the foundation design

The selected foundation design considers shaft stiffness, corrosion allowance, helix resistance, unsupported length and the complete connections. A thicker wall can change more than one part of that design, so a substitution is reviewed in that design.

Installation evidence belongs to the selected system

Torque correlation, termination criteria and load-test requirements follow the actual pile system and site. Factory dimensional and material records identify the supplied steel, alongside the installed-pile acceptance.

Tube ends, helix position and coupling engagement

A formed plate with a defined pitch

The drawing fixes the helix diameter and thickness together with its formed pitch. Leading and trailing edges, weld detail and position along the tube belong to that plate.

Inside and outside mating surfaces

A sleeve over the shaft uses the finished outside envelope. An inserted connection also depends on the bore and any internal weld seam or coating. The joint drawing identifies which surfaces locate and bear in the assembled connection.

Transverse holes and bolt grip

The holes are located from the prepared shaft-end datum. Their alignment, bolt grip and connection engagement must agree; drilling a new hole to force a different sleeve into place changes the specified joint.

Protection on the completed lead

The finish covers the specified tube, plate and weld surfaces after fabrication. Socket fit, hollow-section venting and treatment of concealed areas remain part of the agreed coating and connection detail.

Leads and extension quantities

The lead schedule fixes the bearing-plate arrangement while the extension schedule provides the required matching shaft pieces. Separate quantities let the buyer purchase additional extensions without ordering another set of bearing plates.

Frame and equipment support interfaces

The top connection relates the tubular shaft to the supported frame or foundation. Its bearing level, rotation and fixing pattern are retained with the pile mark so the shaft shipment and upper steel package meet at the intended interface.

Tube, plate and joint fabrication checks

Tube and formed plate geometry

Checks cover shaft OD and wall, lead datums, helix diameter, thickness, pitch and spacing. Plate edges and the pilot remain distinguishable in the record for each lead configuration.

Weld detail and required examination

The accepted joint detail fixes weld location and required size. Examination follows the ordered method and acceptance criteria, which is what establishes weld penetration and lead strength.

Finished coupling fit

A representative joint checks engagement, hole alignment and the selected fastening set after the required finish. Material and coating records remain tied to the shaft and sleeve identities.

Separated leads, extensions and joint hardware

A component-based quotation

Our offer lists lead configurations, extension lengths, couplings, tops and joint hardware individually. Required inspection records and finish follow those items, with quantities and shipment terms stated for the destination.

Helix and pilot protection

Supported racks and separators keep bearing-plate edges and tips clear of neighboring steel. Plain extension bundles are kept separate from leads, clear of the formed plates during handling.

Receiving a matched joint family

Connection references travel with the component marks. A spare sleeve or extra bolt set can then be received against the correct shaft detail.

Round-shaft pile purchasing questions

Does the tube size establish the allowable installation torque?

No. The shaft material and geometry, coupling, bolts, drive interface and applicable system evidence all affect the permitted torque. A diameter-and-wall callout alone is not a torque rating.

Can a round pile be filled with grout or concrete after delivery?

Only where the pile design specifies that construction and its filling procedure. An ordinary hollow-shaft component order does not include a grouted composite pile design or establish the resulting capacity.

Can an extension be shortened and redrilled on site?

A new cut or hole changes the connection datum, engagement and useful length. The responsible pile review must release the altered detail before that modification is treated as a compatible extension.

Is the drive adapter supplied with the lead?

The adapter is a separate item unless included in the offer. Its pile-side connection and equipment-side fit must match the selected shaft end and drive equipment.

Can a round sleeve connect directly to a square-shaft lead?

A change of shaft family needs a designed transition with the correct mating ends and required system evidence. A round sleeve that fits over a square bar is not by itself a qualified transition.

Is a pipe pressure-test record a pile load test?

No. Pipe testing and installed foundation testing evaluate different conditions. The pile acceptance plan identifies the required installation records and foundation load tests for the site.
