Unequal Steel Angle Supplier

Long-leg and short-leg sections with orientation carried into each prepared part

We supply hot-rolled unequal steel angles where the connection or assembly needs different fixing widths on the two legs. Orders retain the long leg, short leg and thickness together. For cut and drilled pieces, the drawing also fixes which leg carries the holes and which end establishes the part datum.

Selected complete EN unequal-angle profiles from the ArcelorMittal section catalog. Each row pairs long leg, short leg, thickness and nominal mass. The quote identifies the supplied quantities; the project design establishes member resistance and the approved connection.

Unequal-leg geometry and material identity

Retain the long and short leg on the drawing

The long and short legs occupy different positions around the heel. Prepared hole faces and installed orientation must preserve that relationship.

Specify the grade with the profile

The same unequal-angle geometry may be specified in different material grades. The material standard and required quality remain part of the order, with records for the actual supplied steel.

Dimensions and section properties

The asymmetric profile has distinct centroid and principal-axis properties. The design calculation uses the exact unequal section in its intended orientation.

Prepared unequal angles with the correct hand

Long-leg and short-leg holes

Hole gauges identify the actual leg and its datum. A notation such as holes on one face is insufficient when the angle can be turned or mirrored.

Shelf and bearing details

A wider horizontal leg can provide a larger connection footprint, but the required bearing and fastening arrangement come from the design. Root clearance and edge distances still limit the usable area.

Left- and right-hand pieces

Mirrored end cuts or hole patterns use separate marks. Left- and right-hand prepared parts retain their own position in the assembly schedule, even when they use the same raw angle size.

Unequal angles for connections and fabricated assemblies

Edge and support details

An assembly may use a broad leg for one attachment and a shorter leg for the adjacent face. The drawing determines the actual load path, fasteners and member orientation.

Fabricated member sets

Unequal angles can be delivered as marked loose parts or as a defined assembly. The scheduled scope identifies the included spacers, cleats, welds and coating interfaces.

Complete three-part designation

Long leg, short leg and thickness are checked together. The complete three-part measurement identifies the ordered unequal profile.

Face-specific preparation

Dimensional checks retain the intended orientation. A pattern machined on the short leg instead of the long leg can fail fit even when spacing is correct.

Material and part marks

Heat references remain tied to material records; part marks identify the prepared hand and drawing revision. Those two identities serve different receiving checks.

Unequal-angle packing and quotation basis

Separate handed parts

Opposite-handed prepared angles are packed and counted under separate marks. Full lengths remain distinct from ready-to-fit parts in the receiving schedule.

Protect the angle toes

Dunnage carries bundle loads at suitable support points and protects narrow toes and attached fittings. Small connection parts retain their identification in separate counted packing.

Material and preparation shown separately

Our quotation identifies the complete angle size, grade, lengths and part quantities. Hole work, attachments, finish and destination terms remain separate stated items.

Unequal Steel Angles purchasing questions

How is the opposite-hand unequal-angle part specified?

The drawing identifies the long-leg orientation, datum end and each hole or cut. Mirrored parts retain separate marks where their prepared features place them in different assembly positions.

How is installed leg orientation shown?

The section designation commonly lists the longer leg first. The drawing establishes its horizontal or vertical position and locates all connection faces for the installed part.

How is clearance provided for a plate inside the angle?

The plate detail allows for the actual rolled heel with a suitable clearance or corner relief. The connection drawing coordinates that fit with the required bearing and fastener positions.

How is unequal-angle mass calculated?

Use the nominal mass for the exact unequal profile or a defined calculation that includes the relevant root and toe geometry. The quoted weight basis identifies the selected section and supplied length.

How are holes on both legs dimensioned?

The drawing identifies both locations and reference faces. Each leg has its own dimensions where gauges, diameters or end distances differ.

How is an assembled unequal-angle member included in the order?

The supply scope names the spacing, connectors, fabrication and required examination for the assembled member. Loose angle lengths and the finished assembly retain their own descriptions and quantities.
