FBE Coated Pipe Manufacturer

Factory-applied epoxy protection for pipe and coating orders

We supply FBE-coated carbon steel pipe in DN15–DN250 catalog sizes, with 300 or 400 μm coating selections and 5.8, 6 or 12 m lengths. The steel grade, wall and end preparation remain part of the pipe order. Single-layer FBE and a separately specified dual-layer system are quoted as different coating builds.

FBE pipe dimensions and coating selections

The single-layer catalog covers DN15–DN250 nominal sizes. Select the pipe OD and wall for the required material standard, then identify the coating thickness and delivered length.

Steel specification and FBE system requirements

The pipe keeps its own standard

Pipe material, weld route and mechanical properties follow the steel specification on the order. Pipe grade and pipeline pressure rating stay with the steel specification.

Single-layer FBE and ISO 21809-2

ISO 21809-2 addresses plant-applied external single-layer FBE for pipeline corrosion protection. Where it is adopted, its qualification, application and inspection scope belongs with the project requirements; a dual-layer system needs its own applicable basis.

Qualification and production records

A qualified coating procedure establishes the intended material and application route. Production records then show the checks made on the ordered pipe. A material data sheet and a shipment inspection report answer different questions.

Surface preparation, epoxy layers and weld cutbacks

Steel preparation before the powder

Cleaning and abrasive preparation create the surface condition required by the powder procedure. Surface profile, contamination and the interval before application influence the bond, so the preparation route is part of the coating work.

Single FBE or an epoxy overcoat

A dual-FBE overcoat is another epoxy layer. The polyethylene outer layer of 3LPE is a different system. An abrasion-resistant system is selected around handling and installation exposure.

Termination at the pipe ends

The bare weld area and the coating termination make room for joining, examination and the field-joint system. Cutback length, edge shape and overlap requirements are coordinated before coating so the coated barrel and joint treatment meet correctly.

FBE supply for pipeline construction

Buried pipeline sections

External FBE is supplied for a defined corrosion-control design. Pipe temperature, soil and groundwater conditions, cathodic protection and installation method establish the coating duty, set out in the pipeline corrosion-control plan.

Sections needing greater abrasion protection

Pull-through crossings and demanding handling can require an additional protective layer. The installation specification identifies that duty so the primary corrosion barrier and outer protection can be assessed separately.

Cured film, continuity and repair inspection

Dry film at the acceptance locations

Thickness readings are checked against the specified film requirement and sampling plan. The nominal target and a minimum allowed individual reading are different acceptance values; they need their own limits.

Holiday detection

Continuity testing locates coating discontinuities with the method and voltage appropriate to the material and film thickness. The setting follows the coating material and film thickness.

Cure and repaired areas

Cure checks follow the selected powder procedure. Repairs use compatible materials and their specified preparation, cure and repeat inspection, keeping the repaired area within the agreed acceptance scope.

Supports and lifting contact

Padded contact points prevent hard edges and restraints from bearing directly on the coating. Pipes are kept clear of dragging contact during loading and unloading, with particular care at coating terminations.

Bare ends and receiving checks

Cutbacks retain temporary preservation compatible with the later weld and field-joint work. Receiving inspection distinguishes exposed steel or a damaged barrier from a superficial mark before the pipe is installed.

Pipe, coating and delivery in the offer

The quotation identifies the steel items and coating route, including overcoat and field-joint material scope where ordered. Packing and shipment terms use the actual lengths, quantities and destination.

FBE-coated pipe purchasing questions

Does green paint identify the specified FBE system?

No. Color does not identify the powder formulation, cure condition or approved service. Material identification and the coating records establish which system was applied.

Can an external FBE specification be used as the internal drinking-water lining specification?

The two surfaces serve different duties. A fluid-contact lining needs its own material, application and any required approval for that service. An external FBE description does not establish those internal-lining requirements.

Is a dual-FBE overcoat the same product as 3LPE?

No. A dual-FBE system uses epoxy for the additional outer layer. A 3LPE system adds an adhesive and polyethylene top layer over its epoxy primer; the material structure and applicable qualification differ.

Can finished FBE pipe be welded or bent without a coating review?

Those operations can affect the coating and its termination. The approved fabrication and installation procedure defines allowable work and any repair or repeat inspection; the delivered coating does not provide a blanket approval for later heating or bending.

What if coating qualification or purchaser witness is required before production?

Place the qualification scope, acceptance tests and witness points in the coating order before the affected work starts. A routine shipment inspection cannot retroactively replace a required procedure qualification.

Does the coated-pipe price automatically include field-joint kits and site application?

No. The offer identifies the plant-coated pipe and any separately included joint materials. Field application, site labor and joint inspection remain separately defined parts of the project scope.
