Grooved Butterfly Valve Supplier

Gear-operated fire-water valves for grooved piping

We supply grooved butterfly valves for wholesale fire-protection orders in PN10 and PN16 series. A compact gear operator controls the disc, while grooved ends connect to the selected pipe-and-coupling system. Valve size, actual end diameter and the required position-monitoring assembly stay together on each quoted line.

Valve rating and fire-service submittals

UL 1091 product scope

UL 1091 covers butterfly valves for fire-protection water piping. A project requiring a listed valve uses the actual listing record for the proposed manufacturer, model, size and rating, together with its operator and switch configuration.

Groove and coupling match

AWWA C606 identifies the grooved-joint specification. Pipe OD, groove geometry, coupling housing and gasket grade are matched as a connection system. The valve ends and adjoining pipe ends retain their own drawings and preparation requirements.

Finish and switch details

The valve submittal identifies the body finish and operating assembly. For monitored valves, contact arrangement, electrical rating, cable entry and enclosure requirements belong to the actual supplied switch model.

Coupling fit and operator access

Two grooved joints

A valve placed between two pipe lengths has a connection at each end. Coupling size and gasket selection follow the same OD and groove series as the valve. The material list keeps those joint assemblies identifiable beside the valve.

Disc clearance

The butterfly disc rotates through the valve bore. Adjacent pipe, a reducer or a lined component needs the clear opening shown by the selected assembly drawing throughout that travel.

Handwheel and cable space

The gearbox projects beyond the flow body. Its orientation sets the handwheel access and the cable route for a monitored assembly. We retain that orientation on the selected drawing when surrounding pipes or walls limit space.

Replacement length

A replacement uses the valve end-to-end dimension and the specified coupling assembly gaps. The measured pipe opening and adjoining spool arrangement establish the connection fit before the valve is ordered.

Grooved valves for risers and distribution orders

Fire-water isolation points

Riser and zone-control schedules can identify each valve by tag, size, pressure designation and normal position. A grooved connection keeps the body and mating-joint selection together at that isolation point.

Distributor size assortments

A wholesale order can combine several nominal sizes while preserving each actual OD series. Gear operators and monitored versions retain separate item references so the receiving team can distinguish their configurations.

Grooved ends, disc travel and identification

Connection geometry

End diameters, grooves and body length are checked against the selected valve drawing. Clean end surfaces and protected grooves preserve the features used by the mating coupling.

Operator travel

The operating check follows the valve and gearbox procedure through the required travel. Position indication and any supplied supervisory switch are checked against the ordered configuration.

Required closure tests

Pressure and closure-test records identify the selected valve, test conditions and acceptance result required by the purchase specification. Working pressure and recorded test pressure retain their stated meanings.

Finish and assembly identity

Coating condition, bore protection, operator hardware and model identification are reviewed before packing. The supplied valve and monitoring records remain linked to their item references.

Body-supported packing

Blocking supports the valve body while the gearbox, wheel and switch enclosure remain clear of hard crate contact. End protectors keep loose packing material away from the seating and groove surfaces.

Valve and monitoring lines

Our quotation separates the valve size and rating from the required monitoring assembly and connection accessories. Quantities remain visible for each supplied configuration.

Size-separated receiving groups

Valves are grouped by size, OD series and project tag where specified. Packing counts, required documents and shipment terms follow the same item list used for the order.

Grooved butterfly valve purchasing questions

Does a supervisory switch detect water flowing?

A supervisory switch reports valve position. Waterflow detection uses a separate device selected for that function. The project equipment list identifies both devices when both signals are required.

Can existing couplings be kept with a replacement valve?

Retained couplings need a positive match to the new valve’s actual end diameter and groove profile, together with the specified gasket and the coupling manufacturer’s condition requirements. The replacement review uses those component references and the valve drawing.

Can a grooved reducer connect next to the valve?

A reducer can form part of the adjoining grooved assembly when its valve-side connection and bore provide the required disc clearance. The selected valve-and-reducer arrangement establishes the gap and full operating envelope.

Can PN10 and PN16 grooved valves share one order?

Yes. Our grooved-valve offer covers PN10 and PN16 selections. Each line retains its pressure designation, nominal size, actual connection OD and quantity, together with the selected model’s service conditions and required project submittals.

Can the handwheel position change for a tight riser?

The selected gearbox arrangement determines the permitted handwheel orientation and its clearance. A tight riser is quoted against that operator drawing, including any required switch enclosure and cable access.

What identifies a replacement supervisory switch?

The valve and gearbox model, switch mechanism, contact arrangement and enclosure identify the replacement assembly. Those references allow its mounting and actuation to be matched to the retained operator.
