Fire Water Pump Supplier

Single-suction and vertical inline pumps for fire-water supply

Single-stage, single-suction fire-water pumps cover 150–750 US gpm; vertical inline pumps cover 150–1,000 US gpm. Select the pump by its required flow and head, then define the driver and controller supplied with the unit.

Duty-based pump selection

A pump selection identifies one flow and pressure at a stated speed and impeller diameter. Our quotation pairs that selection with the driver data and assembly drawing. The catalog ranges cover multiple selections, each with its own operating curve.

The bands cover different catalog selections at approximately 3,000 rpm, not one pump curve. Metric flow uses 0.227125 m³/h per US gpm. A 60 Hz requirement is a separate duty selection, supplied with its actual curve, speed, impeller and driver data in the offer.

Pressure increase and suction pressure

For water with a specific gravity of approximately 1, a 100 psi pressure increase corresponds to about 231 ft, or 70.4 m, of head. The inlet pressure is a separate system condition: discharge pressure alone does not identify the head the pump must add. Casing pressure limits are checked separately from the duty-point pressure increase.

Duty point, suction and power

Flow across the operating range

The hydraulic calculation establishes the required duty. Its operating range also matters: a fixed-speed pump selected at one point must remain suitable as system demand changes. The head-flow curve, efficiency and allowable operating region provide the basis for that comparison.

Water source and suction margin

Net positive suction head available comes from the water source and suction arrangement; the required value comes from the selected pump. Water level, temperature and suction losses affect the margin. A flooded-suction centrifugal fire pump is a different selection from a pump taking water under lift conditions.

Driver power at the selected speed

Driver sizing follows the pump’s absorbed power over the required operating range. A motor’s horsepower alone does not establish the delivered flow or head. The selection sheet keeps the curve speed, impeller diameter and driver rating together.

Pump-room layout and pipe connections

Single-suction pump arrangement

An end-suction layout brings water into the impeller through the suction end and discharges through the volute outlet. The assembly drawing locates both nozzles, the base and the driver. Horizontal coupled units also need access around the coupling guard and service-removal path.

Vertical inline arrangement

Opposed inline ports place the suction and discharge on a common pipe axis, with the motor above the casing. The smaller floor arrangement trades horizontal space for height and overhead service access. The drawing fixes support points and the space needed to remove the rotating assembly.

Flanges, supports and piping loads

Connection size, drilling and gasket face must match the mating pipework. Pipe supports carry the piping rather than forcing misalignment into the pump nozzles. Reducers, valves and the suction route follow the approved installation design and the pump’s connection drawing.

Replacement installation dimensions

A replacement comparison includes nozzle position, flange standard, base fixing and overall service envelope. Matching the old pipe diameter leaves those dimensions unresolved. Our drawing review identifies the changed connections or foundation details before the replacement scope is priced.

Electric motor and site power

The motor offer identifies voltage, phase, frequency, nameplate speed and rated power with the selected pump curve. Driver and controller data are returned under the same equipment tag.

Diesel-driven single-suction units

The single-suction catalog also includes diesel drive. That package has its own engine, starting, cooling and fuel-system scope; it does not share an electric motor’s supply requirements. The engine data and assembly layout are identified with the selected pump duty.

Fire-pump controller and auxiliary equipment

A dedicated fire-pump controller has a different starting, monitoring and approval scope from a general motor starter. Jockey pumps, their controllers, test equipment and site piping remain separate items unless named in the package. Each included item appears on the equipment list.

Pump performance and release documents

Pump and driver identification

The pump model or serial number, accepted curve and assembly drawing are supplied under the equipment tag. Driver and controller records identify the components included with that unit.

Casing and performance records

A casing pressure test checks the pressure-containing assembly. A performance test records flow and head at the specified speed, with the power and other acceptance data required by the order. The release plan identifies test points, acceptance criteria and witnessing requirements before testing.

Connections and assembly inspection

Nozzles, mounting points and overall dimensions are checked against the approved assembly drawing. Inspection also covers coupling protection, fasteners and external condition, with the unit identity on the record.

Fire-service approval documents

NFPA 20 addresses the installation of stationary pumps for fire protection. Where the project requires UL Listing or FM Approval, the acceptance documents identify the exact pump, driver, controller and covered duty. We review that component scope against the project requirements before order acceptance.

Pump units packed for export

Base-supported packing

Crate supports secure the pump base or designated mounting points. Covers protect open nozzles and machined flange faces; the motor, guard and projecting connections remain clear of crate loads. A packed pump unit is handled through its approved lifting arrangement.

Equipment list and storage instructions

The packing list separates the pump unit, driver, controller and boxed accessories by equipment tag. Loose components retain their own quantities. Preservation and storage instructions accompany the selected equipment, including any preparation needed before commissioning after storage.

Project and wholesale shipment terms

Pump units, drivers, controls and accessories are itemized for the requested destination. Packed dimensions and weights accompany the shipment plan, with the production schedule and delivery terms on the quote.

Fire-water pump purchasing questions

Can you quote a replacement from an existing pump nameplate?

Yes. The nameplate, existing curve and installation drawing establish the reference unit. A replacement is matched to the required duty and installation, with the proposed model identified separately from the original manufacturer’s model number.

Does the quotation include installation and commissioning?

The quotation covers the specified pump, driver, controller and supply documents. Site installation, electrical work, hydraulic commissioning and authority acceptance remain separate project responsibilities.

Can spare seals or impellers be ordered with the pump?

Model-matched spare parts can be included in the equipment quotation. Seal construction and impeller configuration follow the selected pump; a flange size or motor horsepower is insufficient to identify those parts.

What happens if the duty sheet changes after quotation?

A changed duty, power supply or installation drawing triggers a revised selection and quotation. The accepted revision identifies the pump configuration, documents and delivery scope used for the order.
