Transmission Tower Steelwork Manufacturer

Fabricated lattice members and connection sets to utility tower drawings

We fabricate lattice transmission-tower steel to the released utility drawings, supplying identified leg members, bracing, crossarms and connection parts. Tower type, line position and leg elevations define the component schedule. Our offer groups the steelwork and specified fasteners by tower reference so site receiving can reconcile each assembly with its drawing revision.

Inch-series tower-bolt diameter references

ASTM A394-08(2024) covers five nominal bolt diameters for steel transmission towers, substations and similar structures. The metric column converts those inch references.

Tower drawings, structural material and fastener selection

Lattice-tower design and fabrication basis

ASCE/SEI 10 addresses design, fabrication and testing of latticed transmission structures and their connections. The project identifies its adopted edition, utility requirements and released tower configuration; those documents establish the member and acceptance schedule we fabricate.

Tower fastener types

The current A394 scope identifies Type 0 hot-dip-zinc-coated carbon-steel bolts, Type 1 hot-dip-zinc-coated quenched-and-tempered bolts and Type 3 weathering-steel bolts. The selected connection specifies its type and finish together with the required hardware.

Material identity within the tower

Legs, bracing, plates and fasteners retain their specified materials. Required records link those selections to the member and hardware references supplied for each tower configuration.

Leg members, crossarms and connection-hole geometry

Tower-body and extension members

The member list locates each leg and bracing item by its drawing reference. Different leg extensions keep their separate marks, hole patterns and connection orientation, preserving the intended foundation-level arrangement.

Crossarm and attachment geometry

The released detail fixes crossarm length, attachment points and the supporting member geometry. Fabrication retains that steelwork interface with the selected tower type and line position.

Holes and galvanized connection fit

Bolt holes, edge preparation and mating angles follow the connection detail. Required finish, venting and drainage provisions are coordinated with the fabricated members and selected galvanizing process.

Tower steel packages for utility and line-construction procurement

Repeated towers with defined variations

A line package can group repeated body types while separating different crossarm and leg-extension schedules. The takeoff lists actual tower references and their variations, giving each delivered component a defined destination.

Replacement or additional member lots

An identified tower and member drawing establishes the steel section, holes and finish for replacement pieces. The order retains the existing configuration and required revision so new parts match the accepted assembly.

Tower-member geometry and galvanized finish checks

Member length and hole positions

Checks relate the section, cut ends, hole pattern and orientation to the member drawing. Connection fit uses the specified datums.

Assembly checks where specified

A trial or check assembly is included when the order’s acceptance plan requires it. Its scope identifies the tower references, mating members and connection details covered by that check.

Finish and component traceability

Required galvanizing and surface checks retain the member identity. The release list reconciles drawing revisions, material records and finished component quantities.

A quotation for the defined tower schedule

Our offer lists the tower references, steelwork, finish and included hardware. Separate assembly variations and any additional spares retain their own quantities and commercial basis.

Supported member bundles

Long angles and fabricated parts travel on supports with protection for connection ends. Bundle groups preserve member identity and the agreed handling arrangement.

Hardware linked to the assembly list

Bolts, nuts and washers are grouped by their specified references and quantities. The packing list links those cartons to the tower schedule alongside the marked steel bundles.

Transmission-tower steel purchasing questions

Can a 1/2 in. tower-bolt designation be changed to M12?

A 1/2 in. nominal diameter equals 12.700 mm; M12 identifies a 12 mm metric nominal diameter. The connection drawing retains the selected inch or metric thread, matching nut and hole detail. A change follows the utility’s accepted connection revision.

How are suspension and angle-tower orders distinguished?

Each tower type uses its own utility design and attachment geometry. The order retains the actual type and line-position reference, together with the corresponding body, crossarm and member schedule.

Can one order include different leg extensions?

Yes. The extension schedule identifies the required configuration at each leg and tower position. We keep those member sets and quantities separate from repeated body and crossarm parts.

Does the steelwork package include insulators and conductors?

The quotation identifies the supplied structural members and fasteners. Electrical hardware, insulators and conductors have their own equipment schedules and are included only as explicitly listed purchase items.

What changes between A394 Type 0 and Type 1 bolt selections?

Type 0 covers hot-dip zinc-coated low- or medium-carbon steel bolts. Type 1 covers hot-dip zinc-coated medium-carbon steel bolts that are quenched and tempered. The connection specification retains the required type alongside diameter and length; a substitution follows the utility’s accepted revision.

Can spare bolts be supplied with the tower members?

Yes, as separately counted fastener items. Each spare line retains the required specification, type, diameter, length and matching hardware, keeping it distinct from the assembly’s included connection sets.
