IPN Steel Beam Supplier

Taper-flange I sections for profile-matched fabrication and replacement work

We supply IPN steel beams for material schedules and replacement members that retain the tapered-flange I series. The inner flange slope affects seating, hole details and matching to existing steelwork. Our supply quotation keeps the complete IPN size, material grade, cut length and any end preparation together.

Selected nominal dimensions and steel mass from the ArcelorMittal section reference. Use the complete designation for profile geometry. Our quotation identifies the material grade, supplied lengths and quantities; the project design establishes member resistance and connection requirements. IPN flange thickness uses the section standard’s reference position because the inner face is tapered.

IPN geometry and material specification

Tapered faces remain part of the profile

The IPN series has a nominal 14% inner flange slope. Thickness is checked at the specified reference position; the outer edge has its own, thinner dimension.

Dimensional and material standards

The section reference describes IPN geometry separately from the steel grade. The order identifies both the profile and the material acceptance requirements.

Existing members need positive identification

A site member can have corrosion, coating buildup or nonstandard alterations. A measured depth is useful, but width, flange shape and available markings complete the identification.

IPN preparation for tapered-flange connections

Seating hardware

Tapered washers or another designed seating arrangement may be needed where bolts bear on an inclined flange. Hardware selection belongs to the connection detail.

End plates and cope geometry

An end connection must accommodate the web-to-flange roots and the sloping faces. Plates, weld preparations and local cuts are defined from the actual IPN profile.

Replacement cut lengths

The dimensional schedule identifies beam length, installation gaps and bearing details. The released drawing locates any existing site holes or notches to be reproduced.

IPN supply for retained profile systems

Replacement steelwork

Matching an established IPN frame can preserve the intended interfaces. The replacement package keeps the section identity and any new connection work separate for review.

Fabricated beams and assemblies

IPN lengths can be grouped with connection plates and other scheduled members. Assembly marks distinguish raw beam supply from a finished fabricated component.

IPN identity and prepared-face inspection

Profile geometry

Checks distinguish the tapered-flange IPN shape from parallel-flange I sections. Nominal thickness observations use the applicable reference position.

Connection bearing faces

Prepared seating and attachment details are checked against the actual sloping flange and connection drawing. Their contact and clearance requirements remain visible in the finished-part inspection.

Surface and remaining identity

Surface and examination records retain a readable member reference through treatment or repair. Ordered acceptance criteria accompany the released piece.

IPN beam packing and supply lines

Keep taper-series bundles distinct

IPN bundles retain their full section designation on the packing list. IPE and other I-series lengths have their own identified groups.

Support the prepared members

Dunnage preserves handling access and separates attached plates or vulnerable prepared edges. Loose connection items are packed and counted separately.

Our offer shows the specified IPN section, material and length quantities. Drawing-defined preparation, finish and delivery terms are listed with the requested supply scope.

IPN Steel Beams purchasing questions

Where is the nominal IPN flange thickness measured?

The section standard gives a reference position across the tapered flange. The outer edge thickness is a different dimension, so inspection uses the stated reference location.

How is the material strength specified for IPN?

The order names the material grade, quality and any impact-toughness requirement alongside the IPN designation. Material records identify the properties of the supplied heat.

How are tapered washers and bolts included in an IPN order?

The connection schedule lists their type, size and quantity as accessory items. The quote separates those parts from the beam lengths and any prepared connection work.

What helps identify a worn IPN beam for replacement?

Measured depth, flange width, web and flange thickness, available markings and an end-profile photograph establish the reference. The drawing records the connection details needed for the replacement.

What happens to an existing IPN hole pattern when another series is proposed?

The review compares flange width, slope, root radii and thickness with the existing pattern. The approved connection detail establishes the hole and seating arrangement for the selected replacement.

Can connection plates be shipped separately from the beams?

Yes. Loose plates and fasteners have individual marks and counts. The supply schedule distinguishes those parts from any completed welded assembly included in the order.
