Our quotation identifies the canopy steel, mounting hardware and fabricated drainage-support pieces supplied. Foundations and site installation, PV modules, electrical equipment and roof-sealing systems are outside this steel package. Supplied plates or anchor-related parts are listed against the foundation contractor’s interface.

Parking layout, columns and vehicle clearance

The parking plan establishes where the canopy can stand. Its column grid and base footprints work around marked spaces, access aisles, vehicle movements and underground services. Rafter pitch and eave level then set the overhead envelope, including anything suspended below the main steel.

Columns outside usable parking space

Column faces, base plates and protective bollards occupy different footprints. The layout places each footprint against the parking markings and access paths, while the foundation detail identifies anchor centers and the base elevation. A column centerline alone does not show the full obstruction.

Clearance at the lowest installed point

Vehicle clearance is measured beneath the lowest overhead item along the relevant route. A sloping rafter, brace, gutter or cable tray can sit below the quoted eave height. The arrangement fixes those low points and the finished paving level before column lengths are released.

Canopy depth and module coverage

Single-row and back-to-back parking arrangements create different canopy depths and support positions. The module layout places its edge and gaps relative to the canopy outline. Service lanes, open row ends and retained lighting are shown alongside the covered spaces.

These dimensions apply to accessible parking under ADA sections 502.2 and 502.3.1. Section 502.5 sets a 98 in. (2490 mm) minimum clearance for van spaces, their access aisles and the vehicular routes serving them. The approved site design sets ordinary stalls, column spacing and the full canopy clearance envelope.

Steel members and the module mounting interface

Columns, rafters and bracing

Columns, rafters and braces are supplied to their member marks, grades and connection details. Rolled, fabricated I-section and hollow members remain distinct on the schedule, with sizes set by the project’s approved structural design.

Purlin section and orientation

Purlin depth, flange shape and orientation determine the bearing and attachment faces above the rafters. Their supports, laps and hole positions belong to the canopy detail. The selected PV attachment then meets that actual section, including lip or flange limits stated by its supplier.

Rails and module retention

A rail-based arrangement includes the scheduled rail supports and splices above the purlins. A direct attachment uses its identified purlin connection and module-retention parts. The chosen module manual establishes permitted bearing and mounting positions; its clamp or bolt connection remains distinct from the purlin attachment.

Cable supports and mounting hardware

Cable trays and electrical supports use their indicated routes and brackets below the array. Structural joints, PV fasteners and bonding parts are counted separately. That separation keeps a general steel bolt from being substituted for hardware required by the selected mounting system.

Drainage, roof joints and finished steel

A defined route to each outlet

Canopy slope, gutters, downpipes and discharge locations work together. Eave brackets and gutter supports follow that route, with outlet positions kept clear of the intended parking and pedestrian areas. We include the fabricated drainage-support pieces listed in the order.

A separate weatherproof roof detail

An array of framed PV modules leaves joints between panels. Weather protection comes from the specified roof covering or joint-sealing system, with its edge, gutter and penetration details. The steel and module support arrangement provides its mounting interfaces; a standard module clamp is not a panel-joint seal.

Finish at joints and exposed surfaces

The member finish is stated by part: galvanized or painted canopy steel, specified purlin finish and the selected coating on loose connection pieces. Base edges, welded joints and field connections retain the order’s preparation and repair requirements. Gutter contact and dissimilar-metal interfaces use the specified isolating or contact pieces.

Prepared canopy joints and bay assembly

Column heads and rafter connections

Rafter end plates, column-head stiffeners and bolt holes are prepared to the released connection detail. Shop-welded assemblies and site-bolted joints are identified separately. Bolt access and the erection sequence remain visible in the detail before a joint is hidden by secondary steel.

End bays, interior bays and row breaks

A row end can carry different eave, bracing and connection pieces from an interior bay. Breaks at drive aisles or changes in canopy level create additional ends. The takeoff follows those actual positions, with left/right and end/interior pieces marked for their installed locations.

Bases, anchors and finished levels

Base plate holes and column lengths follow the foundation connection and level schedule. The order distinguishes supplied plates or anchor-related parts from the foundation contractor’s work. Shims, leveling provisions and site connections follow the accepted base detail rather than being improvised to recover a misplaced anchor.

Canopy packages for occupied parking sites

Commercial and employee parking rows

Office, retail and industrial lots need covered bays while keeping circulation and pedestrian access usable. The supply schedule groups steel around canopy rows and planned work areas. Lighting, signs and any charging-equipment supports retain their separate connection and clearance requirements.

Phased construction and added bays

A site can release several canopy rows in separate deliveries. Each stage contains its end frames, interior frames and counted connection parts. An extension to an existing row identifies the retained end, mating joint and changed bracing arrangement so the new lot contains the pieces needed for that stage.

Canopy geometry and mounting records

Carport base and rafter connection components on a dimensional inspection jig

Base and frame datums

Dimensional checks reference the column-base face, anchor-hole centers, column-head elevation and rafter connection. End-plate and purlin-hole positions are recorded against the relevant frame mark. Those datums tie the fabricated members back to the canopy geometry.

Material, weld and finish records

The inspection package includes material identity, required weld records and specified finish checks. Loose connection pieces carry their part and finish references alongside the main frames.

Module retention and bonding identity

Required mounting records name the selected support, retention parts and module/frame combination. Bonding records identify the intended electrical path and evaluated components. A mounting-system listing does not replace the primary canopy’s structural design or establish a weatherproof roof.

Clearance and drainage coordination

The final drawing review compares the fabricated steel and attached items with the stated clearance envelope. Gutter supports, downpipe positions and cable routes retain their drawing locations. Installed clearance and drainage are checked on site against finished levels and the complete assembled canopy.

Carport pricing and packed bay sets

A price tied to the covered canopy

Carport prices itemize primary frames, secondary steel, PV mounting parts and finish by row or bay. Included drainage pieces are counted separately, with packing and phased delivery terms on the quote.

Receiving by row and frame mark

Columns and rafters are supported and separated to protect finished faces and projecting plates. Loose purlins, brackets and bolts are grouped with their row or frame marks. A box count accompanies the long-member bundle count so small connection pieces remain visible during receiving.

Delivery stages and revised ends

The dispatch list follows the site’s agreed row sequence, with the required end and transition pieces in each stage. A change to a row length or parking layout identifies the affected member marks before fabrication. The quotation states its batch quantities, production schedule and shipment terms for the destination.

Solar carport purchasing questions

Can you supply the canopy steel without our selected PV mounting kit?

Yes. We quote the primary frames and scheduled purlins while your mounting supplier provides its kit. The canopy detail retains that kit’s bearing, attachment and hardware interfaces, and the supply list identifies the excluded mounting pieces.

Can you quote before every connection is designed?

We prepare a preliminary price from the parking plan, canopy arrangement and stated supply scope. It identifies the geometry and quantities used for pricing. Released fabrication follows the completed member, base and connection drawings, so later design changes can be traced to the affected pieces.

Is the finished canopy suitable for vans or fleet vehicles?

The project defines the vehicle route and required clear envelope. The steel arrangement carries that requirement through column lengths and the low points beneath rafters, gutters and other attached items. Van-accessible parking uses the applicable ADA502 requirements; fleet vehicles may need a different project clearance.

Can later bays use the same parts as the first delivery?

Repeat interior bays can retain the released part marks. An added row end or connection to an existing canopy can change bracing, eave pieces and splice details. The extension schedule identifies which parts repeat and which new or replacement end pieces are required.
