Grooved Concentric Reducer Supplier

Ductile-iron transitions with a grooved end at each diameter

We supply grooved concentric reducers for fire-water piping that changes diameter along a common centerline. Each selected fitting has a larger and smaller grooved end, with the actual OD series and body length retained on the order. Our quotation keeps the reducer, its two matching coupling sizes and any separately requested gaskets identifiable.

Concentric reducer catalog, printed page 30. These are selected complete OD-pair and L combinations. The supplied model retains its groove drawing, gasket service and pressure rating; the two coupling sizes are identified separately.

Two end sizes within one grooved piping system

A common centerline through the reducer

The concentric body aligns the centers of both end openings. Its outer profile, length and end positions belong to that selected fitting, providing a defined transition between the two pipe sizes.

Couplings matched at each end

The large-end coupling matches the large pipe and reducer OD; the small-end coupling matches the smaller pair. Groove profile, housing and gasket service are coordinated for each joint.

Fire-service product records

UL 213 addresses rubber-gasketed fittings for fire-protection service. A required listing or approval record is matched to the actual reducer manufacturer, model, sizes and rating, alongside the project’s applicable piping specification.

Reducer body length and adjoining joint space

Keep the complete L dimension

The 4 × 3 in. catalog row uses L = 76 mm at a 108 mm large end and L = 102 mm at a 114.3 mm large end. The fabrication schedule keeps the actual OD pair and length together when establishing adjoining pipe cuts.

Coupling access around the transition

The adjoining layout reserves the space required by the selected coupling housings and bolting. The complete joint arrangement is reviewed where the reducer sits close to a valve, support or another fitting.

Defined end and sealing surfaces

The selected groove and end-face details are checked in the finished condition. Protective coating and handling preserve the surfaces used by the mating coupling and gasket.

Diameter changes in fire-water material schedules

Transitions in distribution mains

The material takeoff places the reducer between identified larger and smaller pipe runs. The schedule retains flow-design requirements, reducer configuration and connection series at that location.

Spool and equipment interface orders

A reducer near an equipment connection is coordinated with the adjoining fitting, valve or flange assembly. The actual end diameters and complete joint lengths keep the delivered parts aligned with the spool drawing.

Reducer end geometry and identification

Both end diameters and grooves

Checks retain the large and small OD identities, their selected groove details and end condition. Each end is compared with the mating joint specification.

Body length and concentric arrangement

The fitting drawing establishes L and the coaxial end relationship. Those dimensions link the supplied body to the scheduled transition and adjoining spool geometry.

Surface and product records

Finish condition, model identity and required acceptance records stay together. Packing groups identify the complete size pair.

Reducer lots and separately counted coupling sizes

An offer for each complete size pair

Our quote identifies the large and small OD, L, model rating and finish. Couplings, spare seals or other connection items appear under their own quantities.

Protected end openings

End protectors and separators keep groove and sealing surfaces clear of hard fitting-to-fitting contact and packing debris. Different reducer sizes remain separated within the shipment.

Receiving labels with both diameters

Each group retains the full nominal pair and actual OD series. The packing list reconciles reducer counts and any separately packed coupling or gasket items.

Grooved reducer purchasing questions

How is a grooved reducer different from a reducing coupling?

A reducer is a separate transition body with a joint at each end. A reducing coupling joins its selected unequal pipe sizes through its own housing design. The material schedule identifies which complete connection arrangement the project requires.

Can the reducer be installed with the larger end upstream or downstream?

The piping design determines the flow direction and transition arrangement. The selected concentric fitting retains coaxial openings; its installation location and service follow the project and product requirements.

Can a concentric reducer provide a flat-top eccentric transition?

A concentric reducer aligns the two opening centers. A flat-top or flat-bottom transition follows an eccentric fitting’s offset geometry, which is selected under its own drawing and item reference.

Does the listed L include the two coupling assemblies?

L describes the reducer body between the end references on its catalog drawing. The selected couplings are separate joint assemblies. The complete spool layout coordinates that body length with the adjoining pipe ends and the specified joint settings, retaining a defined dimension for each part.

What identifies a spare gasket for the reduced side?

Use the small-end coupling model, pipe OD and gasket service/reference. The spare belongs to that joint assembly and is counted separately from the reducer body.

Can a threaded small outlet be supplied instead?

A grooved-to-threaded transition is identified by its own model, thread standard and dimensions. We keep it as a separate selection from the grooved-to-grooved rows shown here.
