Ground Screw Manufacturer

Ground screws and matching heads made to your drawings

A tapered steel tube with a continuous thread forms the ground-screw body. We manufacture bodies with welded flanges or separate heads to the selected drawings, including the connection to the supported post and any specified drive-interface parts.

Ground screw bodies, heads and supply options

Choose the top connection with the screw body. A fixed flange arrives as part of the fabricated screw; a separate head has its own mating detail and hardware. The supply schedule identifies which pieces are assembled in the factory and which are fitted on site.

This range follows the specified screw geometry. Foundation design, drive machinery and site installation are separate from the fabricated steel supply. Discrete bearing-plate leads and extensions are a different helical-pile order.

Shaft dimensions, screw thread and head level

Shaft and threaded length

Outside diameter, wall thickness and overall length describe the tube, while threaded length and pitch describe the screw portion. Tip shape and its position complete that geometry. Equal overall lengths can still have different thread coverage, so all of these dimensions stay on the same screw drawing.

Head level and usable clearance

The connection level is measured from the drawing’s stated datum to the seating face of the head. A head above finished ground needs the specified clearance for the supported post, bolt access and surrounding paving. That head level is distinct from the total screw length and the installed penetration.

Post and base fit

A welded flange uses the actual post-base hole centers, plate thickness and orientation. A separate head uses the mating tube or sleeve dimensions and its engagement detail. Slot direction, offset and any intended adjustment belong to that connection, keeping the supported post in its required position.

Tubular shaft material and strength reference

Shaft tubes and head plates retain their specified grades and product forms on the material records. The table below gives the shaft-blank reference when ASTM A500 Grade C round structural tube is required.

The table retains the published tube-material values in both unit systems. The accepted finished-screw specification governs the formed and welded component, head material and required records. Installed ground bearing capacity is established separately from the shaft blank’s material strength.

Corrosion protection for the buried shaft and head

Buried steel exposure

Soil exposure and the specified corrosion allowance determine the durability requirements for the buried shaft and screw thread. The foundation specification identifies the chosen steel thickness and protection system together. A coating description alone is not a design-life value.

Finish after fabrication

Welded tips, threads and fixed flanges follow the agreed fabrication and coating sequence. The finish specification states the required coverage and acceptance for those completed features. Separate heads and fastening parts retain their own coating requirements rather than inheriting the screw-body description.

Finished mating surfaces

Coating affects sleeve clearance, seating faces and threaded fastening parts. The connection detail accounts for those finished surfaces so a separately supplied head can engage correctly. Required contact or repair treatments are identified for the assembled interface.

Drive-tool fit and top connection assembly

Driver and adapter engagement

The drive connection follows the selected tool or adapter: engagement shape, pin or bolt holes, seating depth and clearance around the head. Its approved operating limits belong to that arrangement. We identify any supplied adapter as a separate part, keeping the tool interface distinct from the structural post connection.

Access through the assembly sequence

A head that fits the post can still obstruct the drive adapter. The assembly detail identifies whether that head is present while the screw is driven or fitted afterwards. Adapter removal and the later post fasteners need clear access in that sequence, not just clearance around an unattached head.

Direction at the finished head

A rectangular post base or offset head has a direction as well as a height. The screw-and-head detail states the required post axis and any permitted head adjustment. That distinction matters where the final screw rotation and the structural connection cannot be treated as the same setting.

Screw batches for rack supports and structural posts

Solar rack foundation lots

A solar order groups screws by the foundation position and the rack’s required connection face. Different row or terrain blocks can need different shaft lengths or head levels. The foundation schedule fixes those screw variants, while the rack schedule identifies the mating post or beam connection.

Posts with fixed base geometry

Canopy, shelter and other post-supported structures can use the screw’s flange or separate head as their steel interface. Post orientation and the base connection determine the head variant in the fabrication lot. Repeated posts are counted by that accepted variant, including any offset or handed head pieces.

Screw geometry, head fit and inspection records

Shaft and continuous thread

Dimensional checks identify the tube diameter and wall basis, overall and threaded lengths, thread pitch and tip geometry against the screw drawing. A screw mark links those results, including variants that share a head connection but use different shaft lengths.

Head alignment and welds

Head checks cover the seating face, flange orientation, hole positions and sleeve or insert fit. Weld inspection follows the agreed inspection plan for the tip, thread and head joints. Any required examination method and acceptance record are listed for those actual joints.

Material and finish identity

The agreed document package links shaft and plate materials to the supplied screw and head groups. Coating records identify the specified protection and acceptance basis for each group. Loose fasteners remain distinguishable from fabricated screw steel in those records.

Installed foundation acceptance

Site records identify the installed location, depth, alignment and finished head level, together with the tests required by the foundation design. The responsible installation and testing teams provide that acceptance evidence. Our factory records follow the components shipped for those positions.

Screw Bodies, Heads and Hardware Quantities

The order lists screw quantities by drawing mark, shaft length and head variant. A welded flange is counted with its screw; a separate head and its fastening set have their own piece counts. Spare heads or connection parts appear as additional lines rather than being assumed from the screw quantity.

Thread and Tip Protection

Ground screws are supported and separated so the continuous threads and tapered tips are protected from adjacent steel during handling. Loose heads and hardware use separate packing groups. Each group retains its drawing mark and count for receiving, including screws that share a head but have different shaft geometry.

Screw Fabrication and Connection Prices

Ground-screw prices itemize bodies, fixed or separate heads, hardware and requested drive adapters. Finish, inspection documents and shipment terms accompany the drawing revisions and quantities.

Ground screw purchasing questions

Can one screw body be ordered with several head types?

Yes, where the accepted screw-top detail suits those heads. The order can use one screw-body mark with separate head variants and quantities. Each variant retains its own post connection, fastening set and installed head position in the supply schedule.

Can you supply a new head for a screw already installed?

We can review a head-only fabrication request from the actual screw-top geometry and required post connection. The installed screw’s condition and the effect of a changed load or head position remain part of the responsible engineer’s site review. A new fabricated head does not itself approve that existing foundation.

Can we check a sample screw and head before the full batch?

A sample order can include the screw top, mating head and specified fastening parts for a fit review. Its scope identifies the engagement and tool access to check, including the drive adapter where requested. The agreed review can resolve mating-part dimensions before the batch drawing is released.
