ASTM A106 Grade B Pipe Manufacturer

Seamless carbon pipe for specified plant and steam-line orders

A106 Grade B seamless pipe covers our published NPS 1/2–24 range for plant pipework and fabrication. Wall thickness, delivery condition and end preparation follow the material requisition. Grade C is quoted as a separate material request.

We review nominal-schedule and minimum-wall requirements on their stated acceptance basis. A106/A106M-26 is the cited reference; the order identifies the edition and additions required by your project.

A106 Grade B and C material references

Grade B and Grade C have different strength minima and carbon limits. The table gives selected material references; Grade C supply is reviewed separately against the required dimensions and condition.

Carbon is a maximum and silicon is a minimum in this selection. The published psi and MPa values retain their independent unit bases. Actual chemistry and mechanical results are checked against the ordered specification and grade; these selected references are neither a complete chemistry table nor the allowable stress or pressure rating for an operating line.

Hot-finished and cold-drawn delivery conditions

Hot-finished material

Hot-finished pipe is quoted with its required final delivery condition. A separate normalizing treatment is identified when it is part of the specified supply.

Treatment after cold drawing

Cold-drawn supply identifies the final condition after drawing, with the required treatment record and any project-specific material requirements.

Lengths and ends for subsequent pipe fabrication

Cut pieces from the accepted material

We price cut pieces by finished length, tolerance and count. Material references are retained through preparation, with any facing or machining allowance included in the specified blank length.

The end geometry used by the joint

Plain or beveled ends follow the required joint detail, including the root face where specified. Threaded and grooved requests are reviewed separately for their mating connection and pipe dimensions.

Factory treatment and post-weld heat treatment

The delivered pipe’s treatment record covers its supplied condition. Any post-weld heat treatment applies later to the fabricator’s welded assembly, under that joint procedure and project specification. Our offer identifies the straight pipe and end work being supplied; fabrication of a complete pressure spool has its own scope.

Temporary preservation, clean bores and weld ends

Outside protection before fabrication

Temporary oil or protective treatment is selected for handling and storage. Cleaning and later coating requirements are retained in the finish scope, separately from the installed service coating.

Bore cleanliness on the requisition

Required bore cleaning, inspection and end closure are included alongside the outside protection. The pipe is quoted for the internal condition specified at receipt.

Prepared ends kept accessible

Bevels and specified end bands retain their required preparation. Preservation identifies the treated areas and any cleaning needed before welding, with end protection for handling.

Additional material and code requirements

SA-106 on a code material list

ASME SA-106 requests are reviewed against the named code edition and required material records. The quotation retains that code-material requirement separately from an ordinary ASTM A106 purchase.

A dual-standard material request

A dual-standard request identifies each specification and edition. The offered pipe needs records covering the required combination, including its manufacturing route and delivery condition.

Material results, delivered condition and pipe-test records

Chemistry and mechanical results

The material report links the supplied heat or lot to its grade and test results. Grade B and Grade C use their own acceptance requirements, including correctly directed chemical limits. The report’s actual values are reviewed in the specified unit system rather than replaced by catalog minima.

Final condition and traceability

Required manufacturing or treatment records identify the condition of the delivered pipe. The material and processed-piece references connect those records to the ordered lengths. Additional final-treatment requirements remain distinguishable from the base material results in that document package.

Dimensions and pipe-body examination

Dimensional records use the required diameter, wall and length acceptance basis. Pipe-body test or examination records follow the applicable requirement for the selected material order. Any supplemental test method, extent or acceptance record is identified with that scope before release.

Project review and release points

Project inspection notes are reviewed before production. The agreed plan identifies document checks, witness points and the party responsible for dispatch release.

Fixed or agreed length basis

An order for fixed lengths states the finished length and piece count. An agreed variable-length order states its permitted length basis and quantity unit. Our offer keeps that distinction visible when comparing weight, linear-length or piece pricing, with the purchased preparation identified on each line.

Grade and condition kept distinguishable

Bundles identify grade, size, length group and material reference. Grade B, Grade C and different delivery conditions have distinct packing entries, with the agreed supports and end protection.

The destination scope in the offer

Our quotation separates the specified pipe, preparation, preservation and required inspection work. It identifies the production schedule, packing and shipment terms for the stated destination. Delivery priorities use the material-line groups agreed with your receiving and fabrication teams.

A106 pipe purchasing questions

What should I send with a requisition taken from a pipe-class sheet?

Attach the relevant class page or material note with the affected pipe lines. The class number alone may not carry the grade, wall basis, delivery condition or added inspection requirements to the supplier. That reference gives the quotation the same material scope as your project list.

Can the requisition include pipe fittings and flanges?

Yes. Fittings and flanges are separate lines with their own specification, grade, dimensions and applicable pressure class. We review them alongside the A106 pipe for the stated connection requirements.

What happens if the requisition changes after the quote?

Send the revised document with its revision and the affected lines. We reconcile changes to grade, wall, condition, preparation or inspection scope with the quoted quantities and price. The accepted revised scope then establishes the material and processing requirements released for that order.

Does Grade C allow me to order a thinner wall than Grade B?

A higher strength minimum does not approve a different pipe wall. The project design and material specification select the grade and thickness together; any change needs that approval.

Does a smooth cold-drawn surface confirm the final heat treatment?

No. The delivery-condition and treatment records identify the material after drawing. Surface appearance alone does not establish that final condition.

Is nominal schedule wall the same as a minimum-wall requirement?

They are different acceptance descriptions. A minimum-wall purchase states its required basis; a schedule designation identifies nominal dimensions and retains the tolerances of the ordered pipe specification.
