A252 pile pipe and the quoted supply

Our main A252 offer is Grade 3 SSAW pile pipe, supplied as the sections on the foundation schedule. End work, protection and required records are identified for each length group.

A252/A252M-26 covers nominal average-wall cylindrical pipe piles used as load-carrying steel or shells for cast-in-place concrete. Our main offer on this page is Grade 3 SSAW pipe; Grade 1, Grade 2 and other manufacturing-route requests are reviewed separately. For US contracts, retain any source, named-mill or project-approval requirements in the requisition for this China-origin supply.

A252 pipe diameters and paired wall selections

Choose an outside diameter and one of the walls listed for that diameter. These five selections retain the pairings in our dedicated A252 spiral-pipe catalog. Other dimensions can be submitted as a separate inquiry with their required grade and acceptance basis.

A nominal average wall is distinct from an additional minimum-wall or corrosion-allowance requirement. Keep those project additions on the purchase line. Exact inch diameters and fractional-inch walls retain their specified values; a rounded metric label does not replace them. The order identifies whether A252 inch-pound or A252M SI requirements govern acceptance.

Grade 3 material and separately specified strength

The grade identifies the pipe material, not the working capacity of a completed pile. Grade 3 is our primary A252 spiral-pipe offer. A requisition for another base grade or a modified strength level retains its own material requirements and supporting records.

These are named published material minima, not delivered test results or a foundation load rating. Nucor Skyline’s 2026 manual corroborates the base yield levels. A modified 50 ksi Grade 3 request remains a separate requirement; the ordinary Grade 3 name does not include that increase. The accepted order specifies the edition and the material results required for its pipe.

Pile-zone protection and clear splice ends

Bare steel or temporary protection

Bare or temporarily protected pipe is available for later welding and coating. The preservation treatment is selected for those operations, separately from the installed pile’s corrosion-protection system.

Coating coverage along the section

We quote the specified coating zones along the section, including preparation and inspection. Buried, exposed and splash-zone areas retain their own coating requirements.

Uncoated ends and later repairs

A field-welded splice needs the specified uncoated end zone. The cutback is measured from the prepared end, with the later joint-coating or repair work assigned in the supply detail. End protection during transport keeps that area separate from the coated body.

Driving-section lengths and splice preparation

Section Lengths and Piece Counts

The pipe order lists the section lengths and piece counts for each pile group, including trial or extension sections. The cut list follows the project’s handling space, driving headroom and approved splice positions.

Fixed Lengths and Cutting Allowance

A 12 m section and an exact 40 ft section are different order lengths. Cutting follows the specified unit, end reference and length tolerance, with any retained allowance stated before release. We identify offcut handling and the material references required on cut pieces in the processing scope.

Ends that meet the splice detail

Plain or beveled ends follow the approved splice detail. End roundness, squareness, root face and alignment requirements are checked for the sections that meet at the joint.

Pipe lots for piling contractors and fabricators

Civil projects with staged pile groups

Trial sections, initial piles and later work fronts can be quoted as separate release lots. Each lot identifies the required grade, diameter, wall, lengths and piece counts.

Pipe for a fabricator’s next operation

A fabricator may receive full lengths for its own cutting, or prepared sections for a released splice drawing. Requested plates, shoes, closure pieces or attachment work remain separate lines for review. A pipe-only price does not include a complete closed-end or fabricated pile assembly.

Pile-pipe geometry and identified material records

Supported spiral-welded pipe beside a straightness reference and idle dimensional tools

Grade and pipe identity

Material records identify the finished spiral-welded pipe, its grade, heat or lot and required test results. Cut-section marks retain the agreed link to those records.

Diameter, wall and straightness

Checks cover the specified diameter, wall basis, section length and prepared ends. Added straightness requirements identify the measuring span, reference method and acceptance limit.

Seam examination and release points

Required seam and pipe-body examination is listed with its method, coverage and acceptance records. Purchaser inspections and hold points are arranged before the relevant production stage.

Factory records and field acceptance

Our delivery documents cover the material and preparation supplied. Driving behavior, installed capacity and foundation acceptance belong to the project’s field and engineering records. The fabricator and site team retain their own records for later splices, closures and installation work.

Weight pricing, section counts and receiving lots

Nominal bare-pipe weight

Nominal unit weight describes the steel geometry, rather than an actual weighed shipment. Nucor Skyline’s 2026 manual lists bare 24 in. OD × 0.500 in. wall pipe at 125.6 lb/ft and 186.9 kg/m. Those are named nominal references; coating, welded attachments and packing have separate mass contributions.

Weight, Length or Piece Pricing

Our quotation identifies whether the pipe price uses nominal steel weight, measured net weight, linear length or pieces. A weight-priced offer still states the section lengths and counts, with its agreed weighing and acceptance basis. Metric tonnes and US short tons retain their own units so unlike tonnage figures are not compared as the same quantity.

Supported and Identified Length Groups

Pipe sections travel on supported contact points with the ordered ends and coating protected from handling damage. Long and short sections have separate counts, and piece or lot marks match the packing list. Shipment terms identify the destination, receiving groups and any staged dispatches included in the offer.

A252 pile-pipe purchasing questions

Can we buy pipe with an alternative material designation?

List the requested material designation and any permitted substitution in the requisition. We review its edition, grade, manufacturing route and required material records before quoting. A shared diameter or matching yield value does not make another pipe specification equivalent to the original A252 requirement.

Does an A252 order include a hydrostatic pressure-test record?

Identify any required hydrostatic examination separately in the purchase specification. A252 is a structural pile-pipe purchase, and a pressure-pipe testing package is not assumed from that designation. The offer lists any additional test work and its record scope before the order is accepted.

How are extra sections added after the main order?

Send the original order reference and added section lengths and counts. We review them against the original material and preparation requirements, with the new lot identified separately in the quote and records.

Get a quote for your A252 pile schedule

Attach the pile-pipe schedule with its edition, grade, actual OD, wall basis, section lengths and piece counts. Add the splice detail, finish, additional inspection requirements and destination. For an initial inquiry, send the dimensions and quantities you already have. We return itemized pipe and preparation prices with the material-record scope, quantity basis, packing and shipment terms.
