Steel Pipe Elbow Manufacturer

Carbon steel butt weld elbows with the angle and radius your spool requires

We supply carbon steel butt weld elbows for piping fabricators, distributors and project material orders. Long-radius 45° and 90° elbows are identified separately from short-radius or special bends. Each fitting retains its material, manufacturing route and end wall with the required fabrication takeout.

Long-radius elbow center-to-end dimensions

Use the takeout for the required angle when checking the spool layout. The weld-end OD is common to the selected NPS, while the fabrication dimensions change with the angle and radius.

ASME B16.9 dimensional reference, cross-checked in the Weldbend metric catalog. Center-to-end is measured from the intersecting pipe centerlines to the fitting end. Ordered wall and construction remain separate from these layout values.

Material, construction and pressure-design basis

A234 WPB identifies a material grade

The material specification governs the fitting’s chemistry, mechanical properties and manufacturing requirements. The dimensional standard is listed alongside it.

B16.9 identifies fitting geometry and requirements

Factory-made wrought fittings are ordered against the adopted dimensional standard and specified wall. The allowable pressure follows from the material, temperature and piping-design basis.

Welded and seamless items stay identified

The manufacturing route and any required weld examination remain on the offer. Seamless construction is shown on that offer.

Bend geometry and welding interfaces

Long radius and spool clearance

The selected centerline radius controls how the elbow fits around adjacent equipment and supports. Insulation clearance is checked outside the fitting surface, separately from the center-to-end table.

Two ends with the required wall

Bore and end thickness are checked separately from the pipe OD. Where the joining walls differ, the approved weld detail defines the transition.

Bevel and root face

End machining prepares the weld edge and retains the specified root face. ASME B16.25 provides different preparations for different wall conditions; the selected detail remains with the fitting order.

Elbows for process spools and utility pipework

Repeated fabrication takeoffs

A spool order separates 45° and 90° elbows by angle, radius, wall and piece count. The drawing’s direction change stays identifiable through fitting marking and receiving.

Equipment connections with limited space

A short-radius or special-angle item is reviewed as its own pattern. Cutting a standard elbow to fit a tight route changes its end geometry and fabrication requirements.

Elbow takeout, end wall and surface checks

Center-to-end and end alignment

Dimensional checks locate both ends against the selected angle and radius pattern. The end-face relationship matters to a spool even when the pipe diameters match.

Formed wall and weld edges

Required wall checks include the formed body and ends under the fitting specification. The inspection plan identifies any additional examination for that item.

Heat identity and finish

Material marks and release records remain associated with the fitting. Protective finish and handling condition are checked separately from grade and construction.

Separate lines for each pattern

Our quotation identifies grade, construction, angle, radius, NPS and end wall before the piece quantity. A 90° LR elbow and 45° LR elbow remain separate items at the same diameter.

Protected bevels

Crates and separators keep fitting edges from striking one another. The packing list distinguishes visually similar schedule and construction variants so they can be released to the correct spool.

Included coating and documents

Temporary surface protection, special coating and required inspection documents are itemized with the fitting supply. Shipment terms use the actual fitting mix and destination.

Steel elbow purchasing questions

Can a 45° elbow be made by cutting a 90° elbow in half?

A cut section is not automatically a finished 45° fitting. Its angle, end plane, wall, bevel and identification need the approved fabrication and inspection route before it can replace the specified item.

Is an elbow’s approximate catalog weight a guaranteed shipping weight?

Catalog weights are reference values for the stated material and wall. Actual package weight includes the supplied fitting construction and packing; our shipping records state the shipment quantity and weight.

Can a butt weld elbow connect directly to a socket-weld fitting?

Those are different end systems. A direct joint needs a fitting or transition with the required end geometry; the shared nominal pipe size does not make a bevel into a socket connection.

Does carbon steel imply low-temperature impact testing?

No. Low-temperature service has its own material and test requirements. The order names the appropriate grade and required impact-test conditions rather than treating an ordinary WPB description as that qualification.

Are welded field joints included with the loose elbows?

Loose-fitting supply covers the identified elbows and their prepared ends. Shop-spool welding or site installation is separate work unless expressly listed in the offer.

Can one elbow be replaced without checking the existing spool dimensions?

Replacement needs the actual angle, radius, end-to-center dimensions and connection wall, as well as material. Matching diameter alone can leave a different face location or bore at the retained pipe.
