Grooved Pipe Cross Supplier

Four-port ductile-iron fittings with two opposing branch outlets

We supply grooved equal crosses for fire-water piping with four matching grooved openings. The two branch outlets oppose each other at 180°, and each meets the straight run at 90°. Select the actual pipe OD series and center-to-end dimension for the fitting schedule; reducing and threaded-branch crosses remain separately identified configurations.

A cross identified by all four connections

Equal ports on two perpendicular axes

The equal cross has matching opening sizes on both axes. The four pipe connections therefore use the same selected OD and grooved-joint family, with the body geometry located from the intersecting centerlines.

Reducing or threaded branches

A reducing cross retains different run and branch sizes. A threaded-branch configuration identifies the thread standard and branch sizes explicitly. Each version uses its own complete model and dimensional record.

Product evidence for the selected fitting

UL 213 covers rubber-gasketed fire-service fittings. Required listing or approval records follow the actual supplied cross manufacturer, model, size arrangement and rating. The selected coupling and gasket assemblies retain their corresponding evidence.

Centerlines, end positions and joint access

Use L from the fitting drawing

For the listed 4 in. equal cross, L is 102 mm. Opposing end references are therefore 204 mm apart in the catalog geometry. Adjoining pipe cuts also account for the selected grooved-joint assembly and its installation detail.

Access for four coupling assemblies

Each port needs the joint clearance required by its coupling housing and bolts. That space is coordinated where a cross sits near a wall, equipment base or neighboring branch.

Finished grooves on every port

The selected groove detail and end condition are retained at all four openings. Handling and coating preserve the surfaces required by the mating housings and gaskets.

Cross fittings for four-way material schedules

Two branches at one piping location

The piping layout identifies the connected run and both branch directions. The material takeoff carries the complete cross configuration, actual ODs and connection quantities under that location reference.

Replacement in an existing four-way spool

A replacement compares the four connected pipe series and centerline spacing with the proposed fitting drawing. The branch connection forms and available coupling clearance remain part of that dimensional match.

Four-port cross geometry and release checks

Port ODs and groove details

Each opening is checked against its selected OD and groove reference. The equal-port model keeps those four connections under one size identity.

Center-to-end and port alignment

The fitting drawing identifies the L datums and opposing/perpendicular port axes. Those dimensions establish the cross body’s place within the spool layout.

Surface and complete configuration

Finish, machined end condition and product identity are checked before packing. Reducing or threaded-branch versions remain identifiable through their complete run/branch schedule.

A price for the complete cross configuration

Our quotation identifies the actual OD series, equal or reducing arrangement, finish and quantity. Required coupling sets and spare gaskets have separate line items.

Protected openings and grooved necks

Separators protect the projecting port ends from neighboring castings. Clean packing keeps debris clear of the four openings and their sealing interfaces.

Receiving by all four connections

Labels retain the full size and connection arrangement. The packing list separates equal, reducing and threaded-branch models while reconciling their complete-body and accessory counts.

Grooved cross purchasing questions

Does a cross include the same branch arrangement as two separate tees?

A cross brings both branch axes to one common body centerline. Two tees occupy separate positions and create their own lengths and joints. The piping layout selects the intended assembly and its required spacing.

How many couplings connect two equal crosses directly together?

For two compatible equal crosses joined at one port each, the shared joint uses one coupling. Their six remaining outer ports use six further couplings when each connects to its adjoining pipe, giving seven coupling sets for that defined arrangement. The order retains the selected OD and coupling model for every joint.

Can the four ports be ordered with different connection formats?

A reducing or threaded-branch model follows its own four-port connection schedule. Identify both run ends and both branches, including the actual ODs or thread standards, so the selected body matches that arrangement.

What happens if one branch will be left unused?

The approved piping arrangement identifies the required closure and restraint for that port. Any selected grooved cap and coupling are itemized separately with their matching OD, service and required product evidence.

Can a threaded branch use NPT or BSPT?

The catalog includes threaded-branch variants. The order retains the specified NPT or BSPT thread and nominal branch size on that model’s drawing, alongside the grooved run connection series.

How are spare seals counted for a four-port fitting?

Count spares against the actual coupling models and gasket references used at the ports. We list those seals separately from the cross body and the complete coupling sets included in the order.
