Pipe Support Steel Fabricator

Rack frames and trestles fabricated to your piping support drawings

We fabricate pipe-support steelwork from the approved rack layout and member drawings. Crossbeams, columns, braces and connection plates are supplied as identified shop assemblies or field-erection pieces. Support elevations and attachment details follow the piping support schedule, keeping the fabricated frame distinct from the shoes, guides and other devices that contact the pipe.

Pipe OD reference for support interfaces

Use the bare steel outside diameter when identifying a pipe interface. The full support envelope also includes any coating, insulation and shoe detail.

Selected steel pipe OD references from the published pipe dimensional series. These are pipe interfaces, not saddle dimensions, clearances or support load ratings. The approved support drawing controls the fabricated steel and pipe attachment.

Pipe reactions and structural fabrication basis

Loads at each support

The piping design supplies the applicable vertical, horizontal and occasional reactions at identified support points. Those reactions come from the piping design, not from pipe diameter or rack weight.

Member and connection drawings

The structural package resolves spans, bracing, base connections and joint requirements. We prepare the listed members to that released design.

Material and protection schedule

Rolled sections, tubing, plates and connection hardware retain their own grades. Coating requirements also identify contact faces and field-joint areas where the drawing calls for a particular treatment.

Guided, sliding and fixed support interfaces

Bearing surfaces

The beam or attached plate provides the specified seating geometry. Shoe width, bearing length and any slide layer remain separate dimensions so the pipe contact is set by the shoe and bearing detail.

Movement direction

An approved sliding point permits movement in its defined direction; a guide restrains a stated direction and an anchor carries its assigned reactions. Fabricated stops and attachment plates follow those distinct details.

Thermal and cold positions

The support layout can distinguish installation position from operating movement. Offsets, slots and clearances stay with the released support arrangement instead of being changed during workshop fit-up.

Connections to existing racks

A retrofit interface needs the measured existing member and accepted attachment detail. Field welding, drilling or reinforcement is identified in that detail.

Support steel for plant piping packages

Process pipe racks

Repeated crossbeams and trestles are scheduled by grid and support mark. Different pipe elevations and insulated services create specific attachment items even where the primary frames repeat.

Equipment connection areas

Piping near pumps, vessels and other equipment needs the support positions coordinated with nozzle loads and removal access. The steel package preserves that accepted location, which follows from the pipe-stress analysis.

Support datums and attachment checks

Elevations and orientation

Crossbeam levels, attachment heights and plate orientation are checked from the stated datum. Handed supports retain their direction and mark through coating and dispatch.

Movement interfaces

Guide gaps, stop positions and slide-contact faces follow the released detail. Coating buildup and weld projections are considered at the actual mating surfaces.

Material and joint records

The inspection plan identifies the member materials, weld checks, bolt-hole details and specified coating checks. Records refer to the actual support or assembly mark.

Support marks through packing

Rack area and support marks connect the packed pieces to the installation drawing. Loose guides or attachment plates remain identifiable.

Shipping joints and site access

Transportable groups use the approved member breaks and field connections. Packed dimensions and handling weights are coordinated with shipment and site access without changing a structural joint at dispatch.

Quoted package boundaries

Our offer separates primary framing, attached steel, loose specialist parts, finish and field hardware. Required documents and delivery terms stay with that defined material package.

Pipe-support steel purchasing questions

Can we order replacement attachment plates without buying new rack frames?

Yes. Identified loose plates can be quoted as separate pieces from their released drawings. Their support mark, hole pattern, material and finish must match the retained frame interface; the order does not assume that site welding or installation is included.

Can a pipe shoe be welded to any point on a rack beam?

Its location and attachment need the approved support detail, including local member effects and required welds. Moving a shoe can change the structural and piping load path.

Can painted indoor frames and galvanized outdoor trestles share one purchase order?

Yes. The member schedule keeps the paint system or galvanizing requirement against each assembly mark. Their quantities, contact-face treatments and packing groups remain distinct even when the steel travels in the same shipment.

Can insulation be ignored when setting support elevations?

No. Insulation, shoe height and the specified bearing arrangement affect the complete interface. The released elevation detail identifies the pipe centerline and the steel or bearing datum separately.

Are spring hangers and sliding pads included with the steel?

Only when listed in the supplied package. Specialist devices retain their own part identification, operating requirements and quantity rather than being inferred from the frame weight.

What is needed to replace one corroded support in an operating plant?

Use a released replacement detail based on the actual interfaces and accepted loads. Existing condition, temporary support and removal sequence belong to the site plan; a new member with the same outside size is not automatically an equivalent replacement.
