How this U.S. solar carport manufacturer shortlist was selected
Manufacturing and U.S. market coverage
This comparison covers manufacturers of structural solar carports serving the U.S. commercial market. Inclusion requires an identifiable business or operating brand, explicit manufacturing evidence, an actual solar carport product line, and enough engineering, installation and geographic information to plan an inquiry. The three entries are listed alphabetically, without scores or market-share rankings.
The manufacturing and service descriptions are the companies’ own published statements, checked October 19, 2026. This comparison is based on documents; no factory visits or product tests were performed. Confirm current capacity, required records and site fit through the actual project proposal.
Separate the manufacturer from the complete PV project
Keep a manufacturer, the project’s structural designer, a foundation contractor, a steel erector and a PV or EV integrator distinct, even when one company offers several of those services. A solar canopy manufacturer may supply the frame without the modules, chargers or electrical installation. The inquiry needs the actual contracting party and the scope it will accept.

Manufacturing, product families and U.S. service reach
Use the same fields to decide which service model deserves a first conversation. Product names below identify published families, not a proposed design for your vehicles. The manufacturer still needs your actual site, module, clearance, loading and interface brief.

What to ask each carport manufacturer to demonstrate
Carport Structures Corp.: custom steel and construction services
Carport Structures’ Our Facility description identifies its Oxford shop as manufacturing steel carports. Its Solar Carports page offers several column and canopy forms, together with custom layouts. The Services Offered page separates structural and foundation design, fabrication, freight and installation, and its Service Region includes Georgia. These are useful starting points for an owner seeking a structural package with construction services.
Ask for a proposed column and brace envelope against the fleet drawing, the foundation design basis, and a scope schedule for drainage, anchors, module supports and erection. The published optional PV panel mounting service does not by itself include electrical installation, EV chargers or a commissioned energy system. The proposal must identify the responsible parties for those interfaces.
Powers Solar Frames: manufactured frames with an installer route
Powers identifies itself as a manufacturer and states that its frames are made in Phoenix. Its published Semi-Cantilever and Tee designs use box-beam framing and bolted connections. This gives a contractor a named frame family to evaluate, while its Carport Installers directory makes the separate installation route visible.
For a fleet inquiry, ask which current frame, purlin and module-retention parts are proposed, who supplies project-specific structural documents, and who installs them at the destination. The website distinguishes current Mini Clips from discontinued Gator Clamps; an old drawing or photograph is insufficient to define the current supplied kit. The listed installer locations are contacts to verify, not reservations of crews or acceptance of your job.
Terrasmart: canopy options and a changed business boundary
Terrasmart’s Canopy and Surface Lot pages support a manufacturer-and-installation inquiry, with Tee, Truss and Longspan options. Longspan is presented for covering larger areas such as drive aisles, making it relevant when a fleet brief restricts column locations. Its Manufacturing page describes in-house processing and racking and foundation production. Request the manufacturing route for the actual canopy package rather than assuming every component follows one process.
Check the current business identity as well as the canopy geometry. Gibraltar’s July 16, 2026 filing reports the sale of its racking and foundations operations to Unirac. Terrasmart’s legacy RBI Solar description therefore should not become a second independent manufacturer entry. Ask which legal entity will issue the quotation, provide engineering and stand behind the proposed warranty; retain the canopy’s actual PV and electrical exclusions.
Turn one fleet brief into a technical-inquiry shortlist
A fixed fleet brief and an installed-canopy preference
Consider a hypothetical Georgia depot for 40 light-commercial vehicles. Its Fleet-07 Rev C drawing fixes the parking and access routes. The buyer requires 12 ft of unobstructed clearance along those routes, including braces and attached equipment; this is the example’s project requirement.
The owner already has a PV/EPC partner for modules, inverters, EV equipment, electrical work and commissioning. For this procurement round, it wants one canopy offer to identify the structural designer, manufacturer and structure-installation responsibility. Foundations, drainage and module-mounting interfaces must be explicitly included or assigned. The EPC has not taken responsibility for erecting the canopy steel.
The resulting named inquiry list
Use the same brief to request the following proposals, including the local installation route, required clearance, price and delivery.
Swipe to view the complete table.
| Candidate | Inquiry decision now | Reason tied to the brief | First response needed |
|---|---|---|---|
| Carport Structures Corp. | Include in the first technical inquiry. | Its published manufacturing, structural/foundation services and installation scope fit the requested route; Georgia is expressly listed. | Confirm the project team, proposed fleet envelope, foundation/drainage scope and the installed-canopy offer boundary. |
| Terrasmart | Include in the first technical inquiry. | Its canopy manufacturing and installation model fits the requested route; its Surface Lot options provide relevant starting configurations. | Confirm Georgia project availability, current contracting/warranty entities, proposed geometry and the complete structure-installation scope. |
| Powers Solar Frames | Keep as a conditional frame-supply alternative. | Manufacturing and a frame family are identified, but the published installer directory does not list Georgia and the EPC has not accepted canopy erection. | Confirm a Georgia erection route and engineering responsibility with Powers and the proposed installer before adding a comparable installed offer. |

Ask Powers to confirm how it would arrange erection at the Georgia site. If the owner instead appoints the EPC to erect the canopy, Powers can join the first frame-supply inquiry after confirming its engineering and supply scope. Ask Carport Structures and Terrasmart to quote the same boundary when comparing those offers.
For a project outside the United States, confirm each supplier’s export scope, local engineering, installation and warranty support before using the same shortlist.
Move the shortlist into a comparable carport RFQ
Give every manufacturer the same fleet and scope inputs
Send each selected candidate the same parking drawing, vehicle clear envelope, site location, available ground and utility information, module/interface data and required drainage function. Identify missing site inputs as pending. Request a marked-up concept drawing and an itemized scope response before comparing a frame price with an installed canopy price.
The response should name the quotation issuer, structural design provider, fabrication route and erection party. It should identify primary and secondary steel, anchors, module-support and retention hardware, finish, drainage, foundations, freight, unloading and erection as included, separately priced, excluded or pending. Keep PV modules, charging equipment and electrical work assigned to the actual project party.
Require a project proposal before comparing price and schedule
Move a candidate into the final commercial comparison only when its proposed geometry addresses the fleet brief, its engineering and site-work responsibilities are accepted, and its supplied scope is comparable. Then compare actual price, schedule, warranty and project-support responses. A manufacturer’s published design family or project portfolio cannot supply those missing answers.
Frequently asked questions
Does a carport manufacturer also supply EV chargers and electrical work?
Only if those items are expressly included in its offer. Manufacturing the canopy, mounting the modules and commissioning a charging system are different scopes. Name the party providing chargers, electrical distribution, controls and commissioning, then give the canopy designer the required equipment and mounting interfaces.
Can a published standard carport model be assumed to fit commercial vans?
No. Ask for sections showing the lowest beam, brace, gutter and equipment points along the actual vehicle routes. Include doors, roof equipment and planned replacement vehicles in the buyer’s envelope. A passenger-car project photograph or a maximum overall height does not establish usable van clearance.
Should a small fleet contact only smaller manufacturers?
Use the actual bay count, site constraints and required service scope. Ask each candidate whether it will quote that quantity and what engineering, minimum order or installation conditions apply. Company size and a large reference project do not establish either a minimum acceptable order or a suitable price for a smaller depot.
Do manufacturing or material certificates approve the complete carport?
They document the facility, process or supplied material within their stated scope. The project still needs its own structural proposal, foundation basis and accepted mounting interfaces. Request the records specified for the actual package; do not turn a general certificate or brochure logo into approval of the fleet layout.
What should be compared in the carport warranty?
Identify the legal issuer, covered structural and finish items, duration, exclusions, required maintenance and claim process in the actual offer. Separate those terms from PV module performance, inverter and charger warranties. Confirm who responds when an issue spans the canopy structure and equipment supplied by another party.
Can legacy brands or sister companies count as separate competing manufacturers?
Check ownership and the actual quotation and fabrication routes first. Two brand names may share a business, design team or supply chain. Record that relationship instead of presenting them as independent alternatives. For Terrasmart, use the current business and contracting identity rather than counting its legacy RBI Solar name as another entry.
